The Christian Faith

 

THE ANTIOCHIAN VILLAGE RETREAT CENTER, Ligonier, PA.

 

Fri.-Mon., September 3-6, 2004

 

Rooms will be reserved for 3 nights and 7 meals at a special group rate of $200 for each adult applicant staying with at least one other adult in the room (spouses are welcome at the same rate).  Children 12-18 years, staying in their parents' room in the Retreat Center pay $100, and 5-11 years pay $ 85.  This year, we have beds reserved in the Camping area Cabins (you bring bed linens, pillow, and covers if needed) for youth attending the meetings.  Youth registration will be available at $120 per person.  Please send your reservation (see bottom of this page) as soon as possible. Registrations mailed before July 28 can be reduced by 10%.  Reservations received after August 20, 1998 cannot be guaranteed.  Detailed information about the Antiochian Village may be obtained from their website: http://www.antiochianvillage.org/.  The nearest major airport is in Pittsburgh.  Ligonier is about 20 miles west of Johnstown, and 50 miles east of Pittsburgh. A small airport (Westmoreland / Arnold Palmer Airport, USAir) in Latrobe, PA is about 10 miles from Ligonier. Please, let us know if you need help with transportation.

 

Speakers in this year's meeting include Rev. Fr. Thomas Hopko, Dean Emeritus of St. Vladimir Theological Seminary as guest speaker from the Orthodox Church in America, Rev. Fr. Antonios Amin of St. Mark Coptic Church (Heliopolis, Cairo) and Dr. Nos’hi Abdel-Shahid from the Patristic Studies Center (Cairo, Egypt) as guest speakers from overseas; Rev. Fr. Antonious Samaan, St. Catharines, ON, and Rev. Fr. Youssef Chehata, Anville, PA;in addition to other previous and new speakers.

 

Please join us in this spiritual retreat, listen to spiritual talks, participate in the workshops, discuss how we can serve our Lord and offer an acceptable testimony for Him in our present environment, and join in raising prayers to our Heavenly Father.  All members are encouraged to stay till Monday noon to get chance to discuss how to participate in SMOF activities.

9 - 9:30               Opening Prayer, Program Outline, Followed by Hymns.

9:30 - 10:45        Faith and Preaching Orthodoxy: Rev. Fr. Thomas Hopko.

10:45 -12            Faith and Church Unity: Rev. Fr. Thomas Hopko.

12 - 1 PM           Lunch, followed by free time (1-3 PM), and Hymns (3:00-3:15/3:45), (Sat., Sun. & Mon.).

3:45 – 5:00          Essentials of the Christian Faith: Dr. Nos’hi Abdel-Shaheed. 

5:00 - 6:00           Dinner (Sat. and Sun.), followed by free time, 6-7:30/8 PM.
